Golden Yunnan

Also known as “Yunnan Gold,” Golden Yunnan is a coveted black tea from Yunnan, China. It’s made from the oxidized tips (or “buds”) and leaves of the tea plant, and very fresh Golden Yunnan teas (like ours) are often coated with a fine golden dust. These beautiful, tippy leaves brew into a dark, copper-red infusion with sweet aromas of warming spices, baked apples, raisins, tobacco and wood. The flavor is full-bodied, woodsy and malty, with notes of pepper, tobacco, toasted wheat and flowers. The finish is remarkably clean, with notes of honey and malt. Try it with dark chocolate desserts, plum tortes or lamb with apricot chutney.

Tea to Water Ratio 1:1. If you prefer a stronger flavor, use up to two grams of tea for each cup of water.

Water: Filtered water is best. Use water at 212ºF (fully boiling)

Traditional Steeping: 3 to 5 minutes

Flash Steeping: First, we run warm water over the tealeaves and pour it off very quickly. This removes any impurities and “awakens” the tealeaves for brewing. Then, we steep the tea – 35 to 60 seconds.

Honey

Has a honey/pepper/woody smell before steeping. Very mild tea and you get a nice honey taste at the finish.

Delicious!

It has a full, very well rounded flavor and ends with a note of honey. Sweet yet subtle, it is a fantastic tea and easily my favorite thus far.

Honey

Actually does have a very soft honey taste. I only noticed the peppery scent when it was still dry before adding the water. Very soft and seems perfect for relaxation
